Self-Guided Walking Tour – Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port to Hendaye

This increasingly popular walking route connects Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port with the Atlantic coast. Many walkers choose it after completing one of the French pilgrimage routes or the Camino Francés, while others use it to join the Camino del Norte.

Now newly waymarked, this route takes you from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port towards the coast, crossing beautiful Basque villages and green, rolling countryside before reaching Hendaye and Irun, where the Camino del Norte begins.

Day 1: Arrival in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port

Day 2: Bidarray — 20 km | +549 m / −638 m

Day 3: Espelette — 17.7 km | +924 m / −940 m

Day 4: Ascain — 19 km | +510 m / −555 m

Day 5: Hendaye — 17 km | +299 m / −319 m

Day 6: End of the tour.
