Self-Guided Walking Tour – The Vézelay Way: La Réole to Mont-de-Marsan

After walking through the delightful landscapes of vineyards, forests and meadows in the historic region of Guyenne, you will gradually enter the Landes, a vast pine forest covering a million hectares, planted in the 18th century to stabilise the shifting sands. Beneath its endlessly rolling green canopy, undergrowth of ferns, broom and heather adds warm splashes of colour to the landscape.

You will follow signposted trails through the lesser-known forests of the Landes, discovering small Romanesque churches, miraculous springs, local legends and tales of fairies.

• Day 1: La Réole

• Day 2: Auros – 16 km or 20.5 km

• Day 3: Bazas – 12 km

• Day 4: Captieux – 17.5 km

• Day 5: Bourriot-Bergonce – 19.5 km

• Day 6: Roquefort – 10 km

• Day 7: Mont-de-Marsan – 27.5 km
  This stage can be shortened by arranging a short transfer on request (not included in the price).

• Day 8: Mont-de-Marsan – End of our services after breakfast
