SELF-GUIDED WALKING – VÉZELAY ROUTE – BOURGES TO CHÂTEAUROUX

The highlights of this section also include its architectural heritage. Bourges Cathedral is one of the magnificent “Cathedrals of Light”, and the city itself is well worth a visit. Located on the historic border between Burgundy and France, Bourges reflects the flourishing Middle Ages of the 13th century, when Lombard merchants travelled throughout the region. Be sure not to miss the Palais Jacques Cœur.

Further along the route, Issoudun is one of the Berry region’s main tourist destinations. You can visit the Saint-Roch Museum, housed in a former Hôtel-Dieu, which features a collection of 17th- and 18th-century pharmacy furniture, as well as contemporary artworks.

The Stages

• Day 1: Bourges

• Day 2: Saint-Florent-sur-Cher – 20 km

• Day 3: Short transfer from Villeneuve-sur-Cher to Issoudun – 22.5 km

• Day 4: Neuvy-Pailloux – 13 km

• Day 5: Châteauroux – 21.5 km, with little elevation gain

• Day 6: End of our services after breakfast
